Tracking Intensives

The Tracking Intensives are for those who would like to take part in a focused study of the Art & Science of Tracking.  The aim is to employ a diverse array of techniques from various tracking “lineages” to foster a holistically trained tracker.  With backgrounds in animal tracking, tactical tracking, search and rescue and ancient skills of the hunt, your mentors will continually tug at the edges of your awareness to further develop and refine your skill set.

The Ozark Tracker Society has facilitators, mentors and community members with a wide range of backgrounds and well over 40 years of experience in tracking that will support your learning journey.  Though not required, participants will have the opportunity to test their skills and progress by challenging the Cybertracker Evaluation & Tracker Certification process (see below).

The Tracking Intensives will be run one morning per month and will vary in focus depending on what the natural world has to offer.  After breaking for lunch, the Tracking Intensive participants will have the option to delve into the Art of Mentoring Tracking as they help facilitate Tracking Club participants at various Tracking Stations.  This will provide a wonderful opportunity to practice mentoring Nature Connection and will further refine their tracking skill set.

Throughout the duration of the program you will focus on the following:

  • Animal track & sign identification
  • Mammal skull identification
  • Track casting
  • Gait Analysis & Interpretation
  • Landscape and ecological tracking
  • Track aging
  • Animal behavior
  • Trailing/following human or animal sign
  • Night tracking
